January 12 PSSA Math Boot Camp Winner
Our January 12, 2009 PSSA math challenge problem winner is Ryan Rutledge. Ryan solved a measurement problem involving fractional parts of fractional parts. She divided the problem into smaller units of 1/9 and just added up. This strategy is elegant and simple. See also: number line.

January 8 PSSA Math Boot Camp Winner
Our January 8, 2009 PSSA math challenge problem winner is Shkeem Brown. Shkeem solved what appeared to be a simple equation that involved square root, squaring, cross multiplying, and even possibly simplifying a fraction. Of course, Shkeem utilized an easy strategy/technique with multiple choice (MC) questions: simply substituting the supplied answers!
